Some days are great, others are not...but no matter what twists and turns I encounter, you can be sure I'm going to write about it!

Seeing Stars

I work for a corporate real estate company. We own some fairly large office buildings in the metro area. A rather large local radio station leases a couple of floors out in the building I work in. There have been a few stars that have visited the building since I started working here, including Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20, Dolly Pardon, Carrie Underwood etc.
This morning, I happened to get on the elevator, and none other than a local celebrity, Mark Rosen, got on as well. I was tempted to say "hello...GO WILD!" since he is a sports dude, but I kept my mouth shut because it was too early to make a scene! FYI: Mark Rosen is REALLY TALL! He looks like he could have been a professional football player.
So I ask you this...Have you had any brushes with celebrities? Did you say hi to them? Did you revert to a childish mentality?

  1. two nights in a row, when my family was in hawaii, we saw Chris Burman having dinner (at the same restaurants we were eating at). We didn't say Hi to him or anything, he was dining with his family. I think that's it for celebrity sightings for this chick.

  2. Stephen Colbert came into the kids' boutique I worked at in college. (This was when he was still on The Daily Show.) He didn't take off his sunglasses, so I had to be the idiot who was like, "Are you Stephen Colbert?" Afterward, I was completely kicking myself for asking, but my coworker said he seemed "tickled."

  3. I got Demi Moore's autograph while she was shopping in NYC. I watched as Heath Ledger and Naomi Watts toured Graceland. I watched Sky Captain with David Schwimmer in Chicago. I saw Ethan Zohn, winner of Survivor: Africa at Cafe Latte in St.Paul. And out here in LA I've seen Steve Carell at the grocery store, Mindy Kaling at a comedy club, Jeremy Sisto at a restaurant, David Thewlis at the same restaurant, David Arquette, Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey, Donald Sutherland, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, at a movie premiere, Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor at a different movie premiere. In general, but especially in LA, I leave celebs alone. After the initial, "Oh my God, I'm standing next to Steve Carell!" hits, I just end up thinking, "Steve Carell just wants to get his groceries and go home, just like the rest of us." So I leave them alone.

  4. Josh Hartnett was within feet of Jennie, Scott and me at French Meadow Bakery on Lyndale! But we were the only people who seemed to notice.

  5. I seem to only have local celebrity run-ins. For instance, while watching an artifical swedener run the twin cities marathon, one of the local news weather guy ran past me...Sveen Sundegaard. Instead of admiring his physical shape, I unintentionally belted out "wow, he IS short!" Yeah...I'm still sticking my foot in my mouth for that one....

  6. let's see.... i have met sean salisbury from the vikings days of yore, i saw fred durst wandering around the mall of america, josh hartnett at chino latino in the bar (he also walked right past my table for the bathroom), and i met liz phair, my idol, after a concert, with jennie. i also met nick arrojo of what not to wear but that was through my job so i feel differently about those sightings since they are media related. i'll find the link to my liz phair blog for ya. . . http://willikat.blogspot.com/2007/12/i-never-said-nothing.html
