Some days are great, others are not...but no matter what twists and turns I encounter, you can be sure I'm going to write about it!

Lovely.

It's official. Fall is here and is going to leave just as quick as it came. The colors in MN have peaked 100%. It's only a matter of minutes before all of the leaves are blown to the ground, covered in frost, then disappear under snow. That's right, I said the "s" word!

The vibrant colors of this time of year amaze me. The flaming oranges, reds and yellows are just about everywhere you turn. I think it's mother natures way of giving us color overload to prepare us for winter, (which is riddled with white, brown, and a yellow you avoid instead of gaze at...).

Once Halloween is over, the holidays are literally around the corner. One thing I am thankful for is having a white Christmas every year. There's something magical about the snow covered decorations that glow in the night. It makes me smile just thinking about it.

However, once Christmas is over...I'm ready for it to be warm out again. That's the only bummer of living in MN: Cold weather that stays about three months too long.

Total Eclipse of The Heart!

The news has been talking about the total lunar eclipse that is supposed to take place tonight...so if you haven't heard, and you're in MN, it is supposed to look pretty cool around 9:30pm..and won't happen again until 2010!

The weather has been so fricken cold lately! We always get these silly teaser "heat waves" where the mecury jumps to around 30F, but then plummets to -10 below zero for days on end! It is also a very difficult time of year, because when you look outside, you see a bright sunny day...but then get BLASTED with the bitterly brutal weather the second you step outside. When I was walking the mail down today, I glanced outside and realized even the grass looked like it was sick of this nasty weather! I think it would be a great idea to give people in MN free vacations to someplace warm this time of year. It could be in the form of a voucher or something...ESPECIALLY for us single parents...or single people in general who are broke but working full time...yeah, I think I've come up with a brilliant idea...Now I just have to figure out how to get T-Paw (Pawlenty) to pass this and make it happen..."YES WE CAN!" hahaha

Little-man survived his b-day with poise and dignity. I threw together a small impromptu party that consisted of the grandparents, his great aunt and uncle, and a handful of friends :) He was super happy and I think this was the best birthday so far. I had to assist him with blowing out his "2" candle..but he was close to doing it on his own (he just got a little too close to the flame, so mama had to go in for the assist). I still believe that the mama's should be celebrated on their children's b-day...and you can bet your bottom dollar that little-man will be WELL AWARE of this with each birthday that passes.

Winter Wonderland

On a less pessimistic note...What a beautiful morning! Driving into work, while it was still dark, the forecast on the radio said we were experiencing freezing fog. Apparently, freezing fog is when the temperature drops below the dew point, and the fog freezes and forms little crystals that fall from the sky. This type of weather makes street lights shoot straight up into the air (almost like a northern lights effect). Before I had heard the forecast, I thought I was losing my mind because I had seen a light shooting straight up like a spotlight pointed at the stars...It was bizarre, but pretty cool. As I was nearing the office, the sun began to show its face, revealing the most beautiful scenery. All of the trees were coated in glittery frost. It was a gorgeous site to be seen. For all of times I catch myself complaining about MN winters, mornings like today make them seem a little more bearable.

Burr!

My favorite season is fall. The leaves, the crisp, but tolerable days...the fall is fantastic!
The only good thing about winter in minnesota is knowing that the holidays are JUST around the corner. I highly dislike cold weather! I don't really know why I have stayed in Minnesota, because the winters are pointless to suffer through. With winter basically arriving in MN (it was in the single digits yesterday morning...gross) I start thinking about what the next six months are going to bring to my life. They are going to bring a giant headache. This headache will come in the form of scraping my car off in the morning, waking up a half hour early to adjust to a nasty commute, little-man having cabin fever, and myself fighting the urge to flee to the south! I know I am making an ordeal out of something that every Minnesotan deals with every year...but this Minnesotan is truly sick of it!

P.S. I put little-mans' snow suit from last year on him the other day...just to see if it still fit because it was originally bought very big. He totally looks like the kid from A Christmas Story...Needless to say, I laughed pretty hard!
